Sometimes it may feel impossible to live the Christian life – to do and be all the Bible teaches; and, in many ways it is, when left to our own strength, and ability.
In fact, it is nearly impossible to live out an authentic Christian life apart from Jesus Christ – and that’s the point. The Bible is God’s love letter to His children, and His children know His voice, and it’s His children who are given His Spirit to live the way God calls and helps His children to live.
Therefore, we don’t have to bear the burden of producing the righteousness God speaks of ourselves – but we do have a role in watering the seed of faith He has given us.
For example, what do we “water” most? Is it our worries, our doubts, our fears, and our insecurities? Or do we water our faith, our trust, and our hope in His word? For what we water grows and matures.
There was a scene from a movie I saw once that describes this reality another way – if there is a bad wolf and a good wolf fighting, which will win? The answer – The one you feed.
Thankfully, as 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, we never have to succumb to our anxiety and intimidation – For the spirit of fear doesn’t come from God. Rather, He gives us power, love, and a sound mind.
May we be wise enough to remember and walk in this truth.
This is such a good inspirational truth!
