I understand better today that maintaining a healthy work-life balance is a continuous journey that requires constant tweaking rather than being an ultimate destination.
I’ve also come to view this journey with more compassion. For studies confirm some basic needs people have such as validation, appreciation & acceptance can often be sought & found at work for many high achievers.
This isn’t wrong – but we can grow more aware to these needs & not try to get them primarily through our work, money & praise.
By doing this, we are also better able to bring our identity to our work rather than making our work our identity.
