Short Supply

Whenever we begin running on short supply in love, joy, kindness, care, and/or encouragement, we are told the key to receiving more of it, is by giving more of it.

Seems strange to give what we may be lacking, but as we do, we soon find how powerful of a life strategy this truly is. As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we are encouraged to be “salt and light” – supply houses of hope, and goodwill.

Yet, how often do we feel the darkness within us rise up, rather than the light? As we pray and seek God, we realize Jesus serves and asks the same of us. We may not recognize Jesus in others, or ourselves because to recognize Him would be to recognize servitude – and this is something we naturally resist.

Therefore, may we boldly ask for the power to be servants and unwavering in our commitment to resist, or deny it.

Not always being so eager to grasp for the power, promotions, and positions our egos desire, but to place our hope in God – Knowing as distributors of His will means we sow as He sows, we serve as He serves, we care, love, hope and give as He gives.

As we rely on His power in all this, we will reap all this and more in return, according to His promises.

“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back“. Luke 6:38
