Proverbs 4:18 says, The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
I love this verse partly because I love sunrises and sunsets. In particular, I love to see the warm rays of the sun peaking just above the ocean horizon to bathe the sky in its glorious light.
Similarly, this verse challenges me to examine my life, and if I, as a sunrise, am warmly reflecting the heart and Spirit of Christ. Or, if like the next verse describes, an I’m stumbling my way in darkness?
Sadly, when I begin taking my focus off Christ and His call on my life, I tend to get distracted and soon discover I’m more in the dark than I’d like to admit.
Thankfully, God’s grace is such that He lovingly convicts our hearts so that we can once again live out the life He has called us to. The key is recognizing the darkness and returning to His light.
Much like the shepherds discovered many years ago on the night they met our Lord, when we pursue the light, it always points us and brings us to Jesus.
His light leads us in gratitude, generosity, grace, hope, and love. He restores, refreshes, and revitalizes our life. As such, His light shines upon, in, and out of us as we go forth. It is a light that impacts others in love, and serves to point them too to the Source of all life and light – Jesus Christ.
Merry Christmas and may the light of our Lord shine ever brighter in our hearts as we celebrate the glorious gift of His birth and radiate His loving truth in celebration and adoration in all we do.
